Observatory Hill Wines uses Australia Post for all deliveries Australia wide and other courier companies from time to time. Post Office boxes and Parcel Lockers are welcome.
At Observatory Hill Wines we aim to dispatch your order in 3-5 days. This is a typical time frame, and some orders may ship out earlier than expected. Please allow 2-5 business days for shipping to metro areas, 3-7 days for shipping to regional areas and 7-21 days for shipping to remote areas of Australia.
For any questions in relation to shipping please feel free to contact us for additional information.
Australia Post & Observatory Hill Wines Delivery Processes
Observatory Hill Wines currently uses Australia Post for all dispatch notifications. Once your delivery is in transit within the Australia Post network, you will be able to monitor, update and alter your delivery details and address by logging in to Australia Post’s My Post portal.
Please be advised – Observatory Hill Wines is unable to guarantee any changes made to your delivery details after the wine has reached the Australia Post network.
Wine is normally delivered from Monday to Friday between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. Most orders will be delivered to your door, however in rural or remote areas the delivery will be left at the nearest Australia Post office or delivery centre. Please note drivers cannot call before delivery.
A signature is required on all deliveries. If the recipient is not available at the time of delivery the courier will leave a note for later collection by you from the nearest local Australia Post Office or delivery centre. The person collecting the wines from the Collection point must be 18 or over and able to present identification corresponding to the name of the consignee. If the order is not collected within 10 working days, it may be returned to Observatory Hill Wines and additional handling costs plus freight charges will be applied to a request for re-delivery.
Observatory Hill Wines will not deliver wines to anyone less than 18 years of age. If there is any doubt about the age of the recipient on delivery, our delivery drivers are obliged to request some form of photographic ID. If that recipient is unable to produce appropriate ID then the delivery driver will be unable to leave the wine.
Observatory Hill Wines cannot be held responsible for deliveries to incorrect incomplete addresses provided by customers. If the address is incorrect and the delivery is made, the customer assumes responsibility for the entire purchase. If the address is incorrect and/or the delivery is refused or unable to be completed, then the order will be returned to our distribution centre and additional handling costs plus freight charges will be applied to a request for re-delivery. If the address is incorrect and the delivery is refused or unable to be completed and the customer chooses no re-delivery then a handling charge and all applicable freight charges will be deducted from any refund made. To avoid these costs, we recommend that you double check your address details to ensure that all information provided is correct and in full.
Permission to leave wine unattended
If you have an authority in place with your local delivery centre giving permission to leave articles at the address you nominate, then you authorise the courier to leave the goods unattended at the delivery address and you accept that once the courier has done so, the complete order has been received.
Observatory Hill Wines, and contractors associated with the delivery, do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage which results from the Permission to leave wine unattended/signature not required method. You agree to release Observatory Hill Wines from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, losses, costs and expenses, including financial and other consequential losses, made, suffered or incurred by you or any other person or entity as a result of this Authority to Leave.
Please note that under certain circumstances Observatory Hill Wines may not be able to leave your delivery as directed under a Permission to leave wine unattended/signature not required. In these instances, your complete order will be delivered to your nearest Australia Post office or delivery centre for your collection. Please also note our courier drivers cannot call before delivery.

Returns Policy
Our Returns Policy includes the rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law and provides you with additional benefits in addition to those rights, because your satisfaction is paramount. Australian Consumer Law – “You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure”.
If your wine order arrives damaged or wrongly packed (wrong wine or vintage), we ask that you notify us within 3 business days of delivery. It is your right to choose whether the remedy is to have the wine replaced, fully refunded or a credit provided. Naturally, all damaged or undamaged wine needs to be returned to us (we will cover 100% of the return shipping cost) before we can ship the replacement or issue any refunds or credits.

Customers should also be aware of the following inherent risks and warnings:
Alcohol should be consumed in moderation and never in conjunction with operating a motor vehicle or machinery. Women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. Alcohol consumption may cause health problems.
A case of wine is heavy, so extra care should be taken when lifting it. If you are concerned about the weight we advise that you transfer the bottles 1 or 2 at a time.
Red wine in particular may cause staining if spilt, so extra care should be taken.
Sparkling wines can be volatile due to the build up of gasses. Extra care should be taken when opening these.
